Do you have a passion for live theatre? Join other theatre lovers for an afternoon hearing a reading of Michel Marc Bouchard’s The Coronation Voyage, with Allan Morgan reading the English translation by Linda Gaboriau.
The Coronation Voyage takes place in May 1953, as the Empress of France sets sail from Montréal. Under the pretext of attending Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, an important mafioso leaves for England where he secretly plans to live in exile with his two sons. Aboard this floating palace in the middle of the ocean, the petty lord of the Montréal underworld must face the most important decision of his dubious career: will he sacrifice his youngest son for a safe-conduct?
Led by Senior Artist in Residence Allan Morgan, this community program invites everyone to experience the joy of live play readings. Join as a reader or sit back and enjoy the reading—no experience needed!
Readers will be cast on arrival, so please come by 1:45 pm if you’d like to take part. Casting is not gender specific to the roles. The reading begins at 2 p.m., and will be in the Plaskett Gallery.
Limited print copies of the script will be available. You can also download a copy here, or bring your own copy if have one.
