It’s Pantomime Season, and Metro Theatre’s incredibly talented writers, directors, actors, musicians and crew have put together a show that will have you laughing and singing all evening long and even after as you leave at the end of this colourful, enchanting show. Written by Shel Piercy and Jo Sears with original lyrics by Director Shel Piercy, this Cinderella features everything you could hope for in a true pantomime.
Aside from original music and arrangements by Arielle Ballance, there’s a superb collection of favourites from Broadway and Hollywood, such as the uproariously funny “12 Days of Christmas” and a great presentation of “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”
The huge cast delivers it all — from boo inspired shenanigans with Steve Dotto as the bringer of bad things, to Matt Ramer’s presentation of the traditional pantomime Dame. There are some hilarious and timely political puns, animal antice from “Hairy Trotter” the horse –and even a Cinderella who wants to make a difference. Obviously this has been an equal opportunity production and Metro Theatre has definitely provided not only entertainment galore, but something to make us think. The Cin-Band, comprising two keyboard artist and a percussionist provide memorable music making that anyone of any age will definitely enjoy.
Do NOT miss this colourful, funny, insightful and amazing production.
